The walls draw the groundwater upwards from below. The water is pulled upwards against the force of gravity in the walls of the house, this is the so-called capillary action.<\/p>\n<h5>The cause of mold in the basement<\/h5>\n<p>High humidity, i.e. relative humidity of over 60 percent, inevitably leads to musty odors and mold growth. The high humidity is the breeding ground of the mold.
